The ruling on cosmetic surgery if the face is disfigured

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This is a listener who used the initials (A. J. T.) from Hama in Syria. She mentions that she is a twenty-five-year-old girl and says: I am distressed by my life because I have a disfigured face due to a car accident in my childhood, and everyone who sees me looks down on me. So I thought about having cosmetic surgery. Is there any sin or expiation on me, O Shaykh?

Answer:
There is no harm in that. If there is disfigurement in the face, such as blackness or the like, there is nothing wrong with beautifying by treating these things until the things that disfigure the face are removed. There is no harm in this from the perspective of seeking medical treatment and taking the means, just as if she had tumors or other things that cause harm, she would treat them in her face, her head, and her entire body.
The point is that there is nothing wrong with treating disfigurement in the face resulting from a car accident or otherwise; rather, it is recommended to treat it until the disfigurement is removed. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the authentic hadith:
cherish that which gives you benefit (in the Hereafter) and seek help from Allahاحرص على ما ينفعك، واستعن بالله
Sahih Muslim 2664
It combines the two matters:
cherish that which gives you benefit (in the Hereafter) and seek help from Allahاحرص على ما ينفعك، واستعن بالله
Sahih Muslim 2664
It was narrated by Muslim in the Sahih. The beginning of the hadith is:
The stronger believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer, although both are good.
Sunan Ibn Majah 4168Sahih (Darussalam)
, then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
cherish that which gives you benefit (in the Hereafter) and seek help from Allah and do not lose heart, and if anything (in the form of trouble) comes to you, don't say: If I had not done that, it would not have happened so and so, but say: Allah did that what He had ordained to do and your" if" opens the (gate) for the Satan.
Sahih Muslim 2664
.
So he commanded taking the means, and commanded reliance upon Allah and seeking His help. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: “O Messenger of Allah! Which earning is the purest?” He said:
A man’s work with his hand and every business transaction which is approved
Mishkat al-Masabih 2783
When he was asked: “Which earning is the purest?” he said:
A man's work with his hands
— this is from the means —,
And every blessed sale
.
So reliance upon Allah combines the two matters: trust in Allah, seeking His help, depending on Him, and believing that He is the Provider, that He is the Creator of the causes, and that what Allah wills happens and what He does not will does not happen. And along with that, one does the means: he sells and buys, he treats the illness, he plants the palm trees, he provides for his children, he locks his door against thieves, he ties up his camel so it does not stray, and the like of that. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you and bless you.
