Ruling on forgetting to wash a limb of the ablution

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner, Zahra Ali, says: Your Eminence! If a Muslim performs the ablution and moves on to washing a limb, but forgets to wash the limb that came before it—for example, if he washes his hands up to the elbows but forgets to wash his face—what is the ruling? Does he repeat the entire ablution, or does he go back to the limb he did not wash?

Answer:
He goes back to the limb he did not wash and then washes what comes after it. If he left out the face, he starts over from the beginning: he goes back to the face, then washes his hands, then wipes his head, then washes his feet; because the order is obligatory. So if he forgot to wash his hands before his face, he goes back and washes his face, then washes his hands. Yes.
