The Time of Stoning on the Three Days of Tashriq

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He says: On the twelfth day, I stoned the small pillar about five or ten minutes before the midday prayer, then I continued by stoning the middle pillar, and then the large pillar. Do I owe anything?

Answer:
The stoning must be after the sun has passed its zenith, after the zenith. Even if it is before the prayer, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to stone on the eleventh, twelfth, and thirteenth days after the zenith and before the prayer. So, if your stoning occurred after the zenith, you owe nothing. However, if your stoning was before the zenith, you owe a sacrificial animal for what has passed, to be slaughtered in Makkah for the poor. This is because it is obligatory that the stoning be after the zenith on the eleventh and twelfth days, and likewise on the thirteenth day for those who do not hasten. Whoever stones before the zenith owes a sacrificial animal to be slaughtered in Makkah for the poor on the three days: the eleventh, twelfth, and thirteenth. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good. So, what does he owe, given the situation described—Your Eminence? He says that he stoned five or ten minutes before the call to prayer?

The Shaykh: He says before the prayer. We have clarified for him: if it was before the prayer but after the zenith, there is no harm. If it was before the zenith, he owes a sacrificial animal, unless it was a time far after the zenith. But for the years that have passed, if the stoning was before the zenith, he owes a sacrificial animal, even if it was before the prayer...

The presenter: Here he says: before the prayer; but I do not know if he means the call to prayer or the prayer itself.

The Shaykh: There is a distinction: if it was after the zenith and before the prayer, it coincided with the Sunnah. If it was before the zenith, it contradicted the Sunnah, and he owes a sacrificial animal. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
