Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : What is the ruling on reciting al-Fatihah during the marriage contract?

The Shaykh : It is not a recommended practice, but it is prescribed to deliver the sermon with the sermon of Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him): Praise be to Allah, we praise Him, seek His help, and seek His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evils of our souls and the badness of our deeds. Whomsoever Allah guides, none can misguide, and whomsoever He misguides, none can guide. And I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger. O you who believe, fear Allah as He should be feared, and do not die except while you are Muslims. O mankind, fear your Lord who created you from one soul and created from it its mate, and scattered from them many men and women. And fear Allah through whom you ask one another, and through whom you have kinship. Indeed, Allah is ever a Witness over you. O you who believe, fear Allah and speak words of justice. He will rectify your deeds and forgive you your sins. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has attained a great success., and one should not recite anything other than this, yes.
