Q: A young man studied until he became one of the greatest scholars. He heard in the report that his parents' marriage was contracted by the Prayer of al-Fatih. The Prayer of al-Fatih is: "O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad, the Opener of what was closed, the Sealer of what preceded, the Helper of the truth with the truth." Upon hearing this serious news, he gathered all the scholars and people to rectify this past marriage immediately. Is this young man his father's son, or is he not his father's son, whether this marriage was contracted in ignorance or by the Tijani method transmitted from Ahmad al-Tijani ? Please, O the generous professor, issue a ruling on this serious problem, citing the evidence for it, and print your answers on paper so that this problem is resolved clearly among us. Finally, I ask you to reply to me at the beginning of next month. May Allah be the One who grants success and guides to the right path, and I ask the Generous Allah to gather us with you in the Garden of Paradise by His mercy and generosity. He is the One who answers supplications. Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
A: The recitation of the Prayer of al-Fatih mentioned at the time of contracting the marriage does not invalidate the contract; because the sermon before the contract is recommended, and it is not a condition of the marriage. It is the Sermon of Need established from the hadith of Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: .
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) taught us the Sermon of Need: "All praise is due to Allah, we praise Him, seek His help, and seek His forgiveness, and we seek refuge in Him from the evils of our souls. Whom Allah guides, there is no one who can misguide him, and whom He misguides, there is no one who can guide him. And I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger. O you who believe, fear Allah as He should be feared, and do not die except while you are Muslims. O people, fear your Lord who created you from one soul and created from it its mate, and spread from them many men and women. And fear Allah through whom you ask one another, and through the ties of kinship. Indeed, Allah is ever a Witness over you. O you who believe, fear Allah and speak a just word. He will rectify your deeds and forgive you your sins. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has attained a great success."
