The ruling on a woman going to Hajj without a mahram
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This questioner, in the last of her questions in her letter, inquires of your Eminence about a woman going to the obligatory Hajj without a mahram. Is such a Hajj acceptable or not?
Answer:
If she is in Makkah, there is nothing wrong with it; because it is not a journey. If she is in Makkah and performs Hajj with the women, there is nothing wrong with it. But if she is traveling from Jeddah, from al-Madinah, from Riyadh, or from elsewhere, she has no right to perform Hajj except with a mahram, due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 9:2565. But if she is in Makkah, Mina is near, and 'Arafah is near, and if she is with good women, there is nothing wrong with it. Yes.
