Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Abu Muhammad sent a set of questions, beginning this letter and inquiring about the meaning of two hadiths. He says: What is the authenticity of the hadith: “Supplication is beneficial for what has already occurred and for what has not yet occurred, so O servants of Allah, engage in supplication”? What is the authenticity of this hadith?

Answer:
I do not recall the state of its chain, but its meaning is correct, for supplication is beneficial for what has already occurred and for what has not yet occurred from the decrees that are suspended by supplication
nothing repels the Divine decree except supplicationلا يرد القدر إلا الدعاء
Sunan Ibn Majah 4022Da’if (Darussalam)
So there is great good in supplication, and Allah says -Exalted and Majestic is He-:
Call upon Me; I will respond to you.ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ
[Ghafir:60], and He says, Glorified is He:
And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me - indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Meوَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِي عَنِّي فَإِنِّي قَرِيبٌ أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ الدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ
[al-Baqarah:186], and He ﷺ says: :
Call upon your Lord in humility and privately; indeed, He does not like transgressors.ادْعُوا رَبَّكُمْ تَضَرُّعًا وَخُفْيَةً إِنَّهُ لا يُحِبُّ الْمُعْتَدِينَ ۝
[Al-A'raf 7:55]
and do not corrupt in the earth after it has been reformed, and call upon Him with fear and hope. Indeed, the mercy of Allah is near to the doers of good [al-A'raf:55-56].
So supplication is required, and it is beneficial for what has already occurred and for what has not yet occurred. The believer should increase in supplication, persist in supplication, and ask his Lord from His bounty. Allah says:
And ask Allah of His bounty.وَاسْأَلُوا اللَّهَ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ
[al-Nisa:32]. So he asks Him for the rectification of his deeds, the rectification of his heart, he asks Him for the expansion of provision, the alleviation of distress, the facilitation of affairs, he asks Him for the victory of Islam and the Muslims, the honor of Islam and the Muslims, he asks Allah for the rulers to be granted success, and for the rectification of their intention and deeds, he asks Allah for forgiveness for his parents if they are Muslims, he asks for them forgiveness and mercy, and if they are alive he asks for them success and a good ending, and so on. He asks for what is good in his religion and his worldly life. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you.
