What is the ruling on the misbaha?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: And upon you peace.

The questioner : e : If you please, teacher, I would like to ask you about the ruling on the misbaha?

The Shaykh: The correct name for the misbaha is the muqabbaha.

The questioner : e : The muqabbaha.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh: Because it is contrary to the Sunnah, where he (peace be upon him) said:
O women, remember Allah, and do not be heedless lest you forget mercy, and tie them with your fingers; for they will be questioned and held accountable on the Day of Resurrection يا معشر النساء ، اذكُرْنَ الله ، ولا تغفلْنَ فتنسيْنَ الرحمة ، واعقِدْنَ بالأنامل ؛ فإنهنَّ مستنطقات ومسؤولات يوم القيامة
.

The questioner : e :
and tie them with your fingers واعقدْنَ بالأنامل
.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : e : So it is considered a religious innovation?

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : e : And one commits a sin by using it.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : e : Because I asked a teacher who told me a small matter, meaning it does not affect the religion.

The Shaykh: Yes, that teacher has no knowledge of the Sunnah.

The questioner : e : So this matter does affect the religion.

The Shaykh: Glory be to Allah, if one prefers the religious innovation over the Sunnah, does it not affect it?

The questioner : e : It affects it, of course.

The Shaykh :
The worst of things are those that are newly invented; every newly-invented thing is an innovation and every innovation is going astray, and every going astray is in the Fire. وإياكم ومحدثات الأمر ، فإن كل محدثة بدعة ، وكل بدعة ضلالة ، وكل ضلالة في النار
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1578Sahih (Darussalam)
.

The questioner : e : Yes, teacher, may Allah reward you with good, teacher.

The Shaykh : And beware of that.
