Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
After this, Your Eminence the Shaykh, we move on to a letter sent by the listener Tariq Muhammad al-Ghuran in Makkah al-Mukarramah. Our brother asks and says: What is the ruling on performing Hajj on behalf of my deceased paternal grandfather, the father of my mother, from my own money? He has no money of his own. Please guide us, may Allah reward you with good; for he did not perform Hajj for himself.

Answer:
You are to be thanked, may Allah reward you with good. Performing Hajj on his behalf is good, may Allah reward you with good. This is an act of dutifulness and maintaining family ties if you perform Hajj on his behalf. So you are to be thanked, may Allah reward you with good. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
