What are the greatest sins? And what are the smallest?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What are the greatest sins? And what are the smallest?

Answer:
The greatest of sins is shirk (associating partners with Allah); it is the greatest sin. Next comes killing a soul without right, then comes zina (unlawful sexual intercourse) with a neighbor's wife, then comes 'uquq (undutifulness to parents) — we ask Allah for safety from it — then comes false testimony, which is among the ugliest of prohibitions — we seek refuge in Allah — then comes the oaths of perjury, the false oaths by which the right of a Muslim is cut off.
Then the rest of the major sins: such as riba (usury or interest), consuming the orphan's wealth, turning back on the day of battle, falsely accusing chaste, unaware women, drinking intoxicants, and other major sins, and they are many.
As for the minor sins: they are the sin for which Allah has issued a prohibition, but no threat of cursing, nor of the Fire, nor of anger, nor of a hudud (fixed Qur'anic punishments) in this world has come regarding it. These are called the minor sins, which are prohibited but for which no threat of the Fire, nor of anger, nor of a hudud to be executed upon its perpetrator has come. These are called among the small sins, and they are disobedience and forbidden.
