The Ruling on Women Complaining About Plural Marriage and Objecting to Their Husbands

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The reality is, I almost asked Your Eminence for advice for married sisters. Many brothers, when they marry, have the intention to at least provide for a Muslim sister who has no one to support her. Yet his wife leaves the house, makes a commotion, ruins his children for him, and blames them for it as well.

Answer:
This is reprehensible, as you heard. It is reprehensible, and she has no right to do that. No wife has the right to object to her husband doing that, nor has she the right to complain about it, nor has she the right to be rude to him or to his children. Rather, he did what Allah has made permissible for him.
Yes, if he wrongs her, if he is unjust to her, if he does not treat her with equity, then she may speak up, and she may complain to the court, unless she is patient and seeks reward from Allah. But as long as she has seen nothing from him but good, or even if he has not yet done anything, she should be patient and seek reward, and hope that Allah will decree for her what is best, and help her to be patient. Allah will make a way out. Allah says in His great Book: in His great Book:
perhaps you dislike a thing and Allah makes therein much good.فَعَسَى أَنْ تَكْرَهُوا شَيْئًا وَيَجْعَلَ اللَّهُ فِيهِ خَيْرًا كَثِيرًا
[An-Nisa: 19], and He says, Exalted is He:
Fighting has been enjoined upon you while it is hateful to you. But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not.
[Al-Baqarah: 216].
So Allah is the One who knows . Perhaps this marriage will be a cause for his increased affection for her and his greater love for her; because he saw in the second wife what he did not see in the first, and he saw that the first wife’s qualities are better, her conduct is purer, and her religion is more complete, so he will be more affectionate toward her. Or perhaps he will divorce the second wife and his love for the first will increase. So she should not be distressed by this, for perhaps it will be better for her. And if he succeeds in his marriage and treats them with equity, then praise be to Allah. The believer loves for his brother what he loves for himself. She should love for her sisters in Allah that Allah grants them husbands and offspring. This is how the believer is with his brother. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
None of you will have faith till he wishes for his (Muslim) brother what he likes for himself.لا يؤمن أحدكم حتى يحب لأخيه ما يحب لنفسه
Sahih al-Bukhari 13
.
And likewise, a believing woman does not truly believe until she loves for her sister what she loves for herself. This is the meaning of his statement (peace and blessings be upon him), because his words encompass both men and women. And Allah is the One to be sought for help. Yes.

The presenter: And Allah is the One to be sought for help. May Allah reward you with good.
