How to Wipe Over the Socks

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A message was received by the program from the Libyan Jamahiriya, and its sender is a listener who referred to his name by the letters (D) and (Q). Our brother has a number of questions, one of which says: In the winter, my feet get cold and become as cold as ice, and they swell, causing me severe pain, especially at night. So I go to the doctor, and he advised me to wear socks over them to keep them warm. Therefore, I am forced to wear more than one sock at a time. My question is about how the wiping is done? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
You wear one sock or two socks on them for warmth and wipe over them; if you put them on while in a state of ritual purity, you keep them on for a day and a night. If the day and night have passed, you take them off, then perform the ablution, then put them on again, and so on. Every time a day and a night passes for you, you take them off. You count a day and a night after the state of ritual impurity, meaning: five prayers in most cases, then you take them off, then you purify yourself and wash them, then you put them on, you wear the socks, and so on.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
