The Ruling on Boycotting the One Who Abandons Prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner : If you have a brother or sister who does not pray except in Ramadan, and you have advised him or her several times regarding prayer, but he or she did not accept the advice, is it considered severing family ties if you cut off contact, no longer speak to him or her, do not visit him or her at home, and do not return his or her greeting, especially if he or she is several years older than you? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
The Shaykh : This is what is prescribed, and this is the prescribed boycott. It is not severing family ties; rather, this is part of forbidding evil and striving in the path of Allah. Boycoting the people of sins is a prescribed matter. If you have advised him and made every effort, yet it did not benefit him, then he is a disbeliever by this abandonment. Abandoning the prayer is major shirk (associating partners with Allah). He deserves to be boycotted, to be kept at a distance from, and to be cut off from until he repents. We ask Allah for safety and well-being.

The presenter: O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you with good.
