The factors that help one avoid Satan and his whispers

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He says: I hope the Shaykh will be kind enough to guide me to the words and deeds that help a Muslim avoid Satan and his whispering?
May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
We advise every Muslim to stay away from the factors that allow Satan to take hold of him; these include negligence in the remembrance of Allah, committing sins, and keeping the company of the wicked. All of these are factors that enable Satan to dominate and overcome him. So one should strive to increase the remembrance of Allah, for the remembrance of Allah drives Satan away, and through it hearts find tranquility. Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) says: :
And whoever is blinded from remembrance of the Most Merciful - We appoint for him a devil, and he is to him a companion.وَمَنْ يَعْشُ عَنْ ذِكْرِ الرَّحْمَنِ نُقَيِّضْ لَهُ شَيْطَانًا فَهُوَ لَهُ قَرِينٌ
[Surah al-Zukhruf: 36]. If one increases the remembrance of Allah, Satan stays away from him. Likewise, sins cause Satan to draw near, harden the heart, and bring about punishments. One of the greatest punishments is forgetting the remembrance of Allah, and being overcome by whispers until one can no longer control one’s deeds. Likewise, the company of the wicked harms one greatly, causes one to forget the rights one owes, and distances one from the obedience of Allah and His Messenger. So one must be cautious of that.
And among the causes of safety are: supplicating to Allah and calling upon Him (Exalted and Majestic is He) to help you, to rectify your heart, and to grant you success in His remembrance and in fulfilling His right in the manner that pleases Him. He, the Exalted, said:
Call upon Me; I will respond to you.ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ
[Ghafir:60] So, supplicate to Allah and increase in calling upon Him to help you, to grant you success, and to protect you from Satan and his whispers and suggestions. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
