Ruling on paying zakah from a salary

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The listener (F. A. A.) sent a message saying: I work on a farm and receive a monthly salary. Is zakah obligatory on this money that I accumulate, considering that I am a young man of marriageable age and in need of this money, as I am currently building a house in preparation for marriage, and no one in my family is helping me? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
You must pay zakah on what you have accumulated once a lunar year has passed over it. Whenever a lunar year passes over a sum, you pay zakah on it, even if you have set it aside for marriage, building a residence, or anything else. When a lunar year passes over the first salary, you pay zakah on it, and likewise for the second salary, and so on. Whenever a lunar year passes over a salary, you pay zakah on it at the rate of a quarter of a tenth: two and a half percent, or twenty-five per thousand. Be glad of the good, for zakah is a purification for you and your wealth, and it is among the causes of growth, blessing, and protection.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
