The Virtues and Rights of Love for the Sake of Allah (Mighty and Majestic)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This sister, the questioner, Umm Anas from Hail, says: Does the right of brotherhood in Allah require maintaining constant contact with them and inquiring after them, knowing that there are many sisters, praise be to Allah, and I am afraid of falling short in their rights? Please guide us in light of love for the sake of Allah and hatred for the sake of Allah, O honorable Shaykh?

Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family, and his Companions, and whoever follows his guidance. As for what follows:
Love for the sake of Allah and hatred for the sake of Allah are among the most important characteristics of faith, and among the best characteristics of faith. In fact, it is reported in the hadith that they are the strongest ties of faith: love for the sake of Allah and hatred for the sake of Allah. However, constant contact is not required. Rather, if one prays for them in their absence, visits them at times, or they visit him, this is among the best acts of drawing near to Allah, if it is for the sake of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He).
Part of love is inquiring after someone when one misses them, visiting them when they are ill, and praying for their well-being. This is part of love. As for constant contact by telephone or otherwise, it is not a condition of that. However, if one speaks to them by telephone or visits them, this is among the fruits of love for the sake of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) at appropriate times when no boredom or harm occurs, rather at appropriate times when supplication, getting to know one another, and meeting take place without anyone harming another through excessive meetings or excessive inquiries.

The presenter: May Allah preserve you.
