School and Security Scouting: The Ruling of Shaykh Ibn Baz (may Allah have mercy on him)
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is your opinion, O Noble Shaykh, regarding scouting, based on what you have heard about it?
And the second part: It may be a specific question, but it appeared on more than one paper: What is your wish, O Shaykh?
Answer:
As for the first: What has reached me about the scouts is that they guide to good, benefit people, and direct them to good in Hajj and in the communities they attend, and they are entrusted with responsibilities. So my advice to them is to be instruments of good and instruments of reform wherever they are. What has reached me about them is that they guide to good and direct people to guidance: guiding students, guiding pilgrims, guiding attendees at any celebration, directing them to good.
So my advice to all the scouts is to be instruments of good, instruments of direction, and instruments of reform; that they call to good, enjoin good, forbid evil, and advise Allah and His servants wherever they are; and that they fulfill the trust in what is entrusted to them, whether minor or major, so that this favor is complete and the trust is fully discharged. This is my advice to them: that they fulfill the trust with all sincerity, all care, and all truthfulness wherever they are: in a school, an institute, Hajj, a wedding celebration, or anything else, in any place where they are entrusted with care and supervision, that they fulfill the trust and be instruments of good, instruments of reform, and instruments of direction in what Allah loves and is pleased with.
And as for my wish in this life: My wish is that Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) supports His religion, elevates His word, rectifies the conditions of the Muslims, and appoints the best of them to lead them in every place; and that He protects them from the schemes of enemies and the evil of their own selves and Satan. For this is what every Muslim, every sincere person, and every advisor to Allah and His servants wishes: to see their brothers upon good, guidance, and uprightness, and to see them successful in their deeds and in all their conduct, and to see that those who take charge of their affairs and care for them fear Allah in their regard and establish the command of Allah among them. Thus every Muslim wishes for his Muslim brothers.
May Allah grant success to everyone, and may Allah send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions.
