Is it permissible to prevent pregnancy due to breastfeeding?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is it permissible to prevent pregnancy because of breastfeeding, since if she becomes pregnant, the milk will stop?

Answer:
This is a matter between the husband and his wife. If she is breastfeeding, and they agree that he will not have intercourse with her out of fear of pregnancy, or if she takes contraceptive pills so that she does not become pregnant, for the sake of preserving the milk for the nursing child and caring for its upbringing, then there is no harm, if Allah wills. Taking contraceptive pills for the benefit of the child, or for the benefit of the mother because pregnancy harms her, or for other valid reasons that involve no harm, is permissible.
As for him abstaining from intercourse, this may harm him, and it may harm her, and it may lead to great evil for both of them on the side of not having intercourse. He may let his gaze wander, and he may fall into sin, and she may do the same. However, it is better that he have intercourse with her and maintain connection with her, and that she take what prevents pregnancy if he fears pregnancy for the child they have.
It is also possible to give the child the milk that people consume and wean him from his mother's breast. If they agree to this, there is no harm. If the husband and wife agree to wean him from her milk and raise him with something else, such as dried milk or other things, there is no harm. This is because Allah said:
And if they both desire weaning through mutual consent from both of them and consultation, there is no blame upon either of them.فَإِنْ أَرَادَا فِصَالًا عَنْ تَرَاضٍ مِنْهُمَا وَتَشَاوُرٍ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِمَا
