Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner (M. R.), an Egyptian residing in Riyadh, says: I am an Egyptian living in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh. Is it permissible for me to perform Hajj on behalf of my mother? My mother is ill and cannot walk except with a cane, and she has weak eyesight. She is in Egypt, and it is a long, arduous journey. Is it permissible for me to perform Hajj on her behalf?

Answer:
Yes, there is nothing wrong with performing Hajj on her behalf if she is unable to perform Hajj due to her weakness, illness, and advanced age. A woman came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: “O Messenger of Allah! My father is an old man who cannot stay on the mount. Should I perform Hajj on his behalf?” He said:
Perform Hajj on his behalf.حجي عنه
A man also came to him and said: “O Messenger of Allah! My father is an old man who cannot perform Hajj or make the journey. Should I perform Hajj and 'Umrah on his behalf?” He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Perform Hajj on behalf of your father and perform Umrah.حج عن أبيك واعتمر
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 930Sahih (Darussalam)
So if she is incapacitated, may Allah reward you with good, perform Hajj on her behalf, and perform 'Umrah on her behalf due to her advanced age and incapacity. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
