Allah the Exalted said:
O you who have believed, persevere and endure and remain stationed and fear Allah that you may be successful.يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اصْبِرُوا وَصَابِرُوا وَرَابِطُوا وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ
[Al-Imran: 200] What is this striving to be patient? Is it for the sake of the truth?

Answer:
Striving to be patient against the enemy. Striving to be patient: striving to be patient against another; it is a transitive verb.
Q: And what is holding firm?
A: Holding firm: staying at the frontier to defend the Muslims. And taqwa (mindfulness of Allah) in general includes patience and other things.
