Is the prayer for rain one sermon?

Answer:
The prayer for rain is like the festival prayer; the sermon in it is like the festival sermon, exactly the same. We know of only one sermon in it. However, those who made it two sermons in the prayer for rain treated it like the festival, and they treated the festival like the Friday prayer, by way of analogy with the Friday prayer; because the festival is the weekly festival, and this is the annual festival. They were also influenced by a weak hadith narrated by Ibrahim ibn Abi Yahya al-Aslami, who is well known as weak.
It may be said: The narration of a weak hadith became strong because it was considered in light of the transmitted practice, but I do not know of anything regarding this from the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) and those most beloved to them. As for the authentic hadiths, they contain only one sermon. As for the Companions, I do not recall anything at the moment. This requires reflection and gathering what has been reported on this matter.
