The Ruling on Marrying a Daughter to a Man Who Is Not Her Equal in Religion

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
If a man has a daughter who is of marriageable age, and the only man who has proposed to marry her is not her equal in religion, should he marry her to him?

Answer:
As mentioned, one should look at the situation: if the deficiency in his religion does not amount to disbelief, but he commits some sins, then there is no harm in that if no one better than him is available. However, if someone better than him is available, the better one should be given priority. But if matters are stalled and no one equal to her in religion is made available, and only a man with some sins, who is not a disbeliever, is made available, then there is nothing wrong with it.
May Allah guide everyone, and grant us and you beneficial knowledge and righteous deeds, and rectify our conditions, and guide all the Muslims, and rectify their youth and young women, and bestow upon everyone steadfastness. Indeed, He is Generous and Bountiful. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad.
