The Types of the Intercession of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the Day of Resurrection

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
He has a second question in this message, which says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has three intercessions on the Day of Resurrection. For whom is the first, second, and third intercession permissible?
Answer: He (peace and blessings be upon him) has three intercessions specific to him (peace and blessings be upon him). One of them is the Great Intercession for the people of the Standing Place on the Day of Resurrection, where he intercedes for them until judgment is passed among them. This is the Praiseworthy Station about which the Exalted said:
it is expected that your Lord will resurrect you to a praised station.عَسَى أَنْ يَبْعَثَكَ رَبُّكَ مَقَامًا مَحْمُودًا
[Al-Isra: 79].
This is the Praiseworthy Station that Allah raises him to on the Day of Resurrection, which is that he intercedes for the people of the Standing Place (peace and blessings be upon him), ... he intercedes with Allah to pass judgment among them in this great standing place until everyone departs to what Allah has decreed for them.
The second intercession: The intercession for the people of Paradise so that they may enter Paradise, for they do not enter it except by his intercession (peace and blessings be upon him). He intercedes with his Lord, and permission is granted for them to enter Paradise.
The third intercession: It is specific to his uncle Abu Talib. He intercedes for his uncle Abu Talib so that the punishment may be lightened for him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
He found him in the depths of the Fire, so he interceded for him until he was in the shallow part of the Fireإنه وجده في غمرات النار، فشفع له حتى صار في ضحضاح من النار
So the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) interceded for his uncle Abu Talib only for lightening, not for release; because he was a disbeliever who died as a disbeliever. This is the position of the people of knowledge and verification, that he died as a disbeliever. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) tried to make him say, "There is no god but Allah," at his death, but he refused and said, "I am on the religion of 'Abd al-Muttalib." We seek refuge in Allah. So he died in disbelief in Allah.
So the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) interceded for him so that he would be in the shallow part of the Fire, due to his support of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), his toil, and his protection of him (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) was eager for him to become a Muslim, but Islam was not decreed for him. So this became one of the signs indicating that he (peace and blessings be upon him) does not possess the guidance of anyone; guidance is in the hand of Allah , He is the One who guides whom He wills. For this reason, when his uncle Abu Talib died in disbelief, Allah revealed regarding him:
Indeed, [O Muhammad], you do not guide whom you like, but Allah guides whom He willsإِنَّكَ لا تَهْدِي مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ يَهْدِي مَنْ يَشَاءُ
[Al-Qasas: 56] and the Exalted said:
Not upon you, [O Muhammad], is [responsibility for] their guidance, but Allah guides whom He wills.لَيْسَ عَلَيْكَ هُدَاهُمْ وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ يَهْدِي مَنْ يَشَاءُ
[Al-Baqarah: 272] ... For this reason, he interceded for him so that he would be in the shallow part of the Fire, from which his brain boils. We ask Allah for safety. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The lightest of the people in punishment on the Day of Resurrection is Abu Talib; for he is in the shallow part of the Fire, from which his brain boilsأهون الناس عذاباً يوم القيامة أبو طالب ؛ فإنه في ضحضاح من النار يغلي منه دماغه
or as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said. In another wording, he (peace and blessings be upon him) says:
The lightest of the people of the Fire in punishment on the Day of Resurrection is the one who has two sandals of fire from which his brain boils, so he thinks he is the most severe of people in punishment, while he is the lightest of them in punishmentإن أهون أهل النار عذاباً يوم القيامة من يكون له نعلان من نار يغلي منهما دماغه، فهو يرى أنه أشد الناس عذاباً وهو أهونهم عذاباً
We ask Allah for safety. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good. These are the three intercessions that you have kindly explained, which are specific to him (peace and blessings be upon him). Does this mean that there are other intercessions?
The Shaykh: Yes, there are other intercessions. There is intercession for those who entered the Fire so that they do not enter it, ... so that they are brought out of it, and for those who did not enter it, so that they do not enter it from among the sinners. The sinners are of two types: a type who are pardoned before entering the Fire by intercession or by the mercy of Allah , and His pardon (Exalted and Majestic is He); and a type who enter the Fire because of their sins and evil deeds, and then after Allah has let them remain in the Fire for as long as He wills, they are brought out of it by the intercession of the intercessors or by the pure mercy of the Lord, the Exalted, without the intercession of anyone; because He, the Exalted and Majestic, has decreed that only the disbelievers will remain in it eternally. The Fire is not one in which only the disbelievers remain eternally, but the sinners remain in it for as long as Allah wills and then are brought out. This is the position of the people of truth, the people of the Sunnah and the community, that the sinners do not remain in the Fire eternally, but they remain in it for as long as Allah wills, and then Allah brings them out of the Fire to a river called the River of Life, where they grow as a seed grows in the flood of a torrent. And those who are brought out of the Fire are of categories:
Some are brought out by the intercession of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and they are of categories. Some are brought out by the intercession of other prophets. Some are brought out by the intercession of the angels. Some are brought out by the intercession of the believers and the righteous. And some remain in the Fire until Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, brings them out by His mercy without the intercession of anyone. When the intercessors have finished their intercession and their matter is concluded, Allah brings out of the Fire those who were in it from the remaining people of tawhid (the oneness of Allah), who died with some evil deeds and sins. He, the Exalted, brings them out of the Fire as a favor from Him and a mercy from Him, Blessed and Exalted is He.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good and bless you.
