Tamattu' is the best type of Hajj

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Your Eminence! One who does not follow what you have graciously mentioned notices that the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) Hajj was Qiran, and we hear many muftis ruling that Tamattu' is better. How do you discuss this, if you permit?
Answer: Yes, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Makkah, he ordered the Companions to make their Ihram an Umrah for those who did not have sacrificial animals, and they had either performed Ifrad or Qiran. He said:
commanded his companions to change it into ‘Umrah and clip their hair after running (between Al Safa’ and Al Marwah), and then take off their ihram except those who brought the sacrificial animals with them.اجعلوها عمرة، ولولا أن معي الهدي لأحللت
Sunan Abi Dawud 1789Sahih (Al-Albani)
He also said, may Allah's prayers and blessings be upon him:
If I had formerly known what I came to know lately, I would not have brought the Hadi with meلو استقبلت من أمري ما استدبرت ما أهديت ولا جعلتها عمرة
Sahih al-Bukhari 7367
.
This is the basis for the scholars' statement that Tamattu' is recommended; because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) returned to it, ordered the Companions to do it, and preferred that it be done. However, if one wishes to enter Ihram as a Qarin and he has a sacrificial animal, there is no harm; because he (peace and blessings be upon him) did not prohibit this type of worship, but rather ordered his Companions to exit the state of Ihram except for those who had sacrificial animals, and they remained in their state. This indicates that Qiran remains valid for those who have sacrificial animals; because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) did not invalidate it, but rather they continued with it.
But entering Ihram for Tamattu' and not sacrificing is better. One buys [the sacrificial animal] from Makkah or from Mina afterwards when needed, and does not sacrifice [while in Ihram]; because there is great hardship in sacrificing and remaining in the state of Ihram. A person may regret it, especially if the matter is prolonged. One may arrive at the end of Dhul-Qa'dah or the beginning of Dhul-Hijjah, so remaining in the state of Ihram, not applying perfume, not cutting nails or beard, and not coming to one's wife may be difficult for him. So out of Allah's mercy, He prescribed Tamattu' for us, and that we not burden ourselves with this burden.
So let us buy our sacrificial animals from within [the sacred precinct], and there is no need to sacrifice from outside. When the day of Eid or the days of Tashreeq comes, a person buys his sacrificial animal from Mina or Makkah and slaughters it, and praise be to Allah. He does not make it difficult for himself by remaining in the state of Ihram from the beginning of Dhul-Hijjah or from the end of Dhul-Qa'dah until the day of Eid, not applying perfume, not cutting hair or nails, and not coming to his wife. All of this is difficult for both men and women. Yes, and out of Allah's mercy, He prescribed Tamattu' because of the comfort, ease, and lack of burden in it. Yes.
