Continuation of the interpretation of the saying of Allah the Exalted: “And of His signs are the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. Do not prostrate to the sun or to the moon, but prostrate to Allah who created them, if it is Him you wish to worship.”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
He made it a cool light so that the heat of the earth does not remain for twenty-four hours, and so that people may settle into their sleep, their going and their coming. Then He said:
Do not prostrate to the sun or to the moon لا تسجدوا للشمس ولا للقمر
[Fussilat 41:37]
This is a prohibition against prostrating to the sun and the moon, because among the children of Adam there are those who prostrate to the sun and those who prostrate to the moon. Therefore, prayer is prohibited at the rising of the sun and at its setting. Some scholars said: The meaning is: Do not prostrate to the sun or the moon when they change due to an eclipse, but prostrate to Allah. He said:
but prostate to Allah, who created them واسجدوا لله الذي خلقهن
[Fussilat 41:37]
meaning: the four signs
if it is [indeed] Him that you worship. إن كنتم إياه تعبدون
[Al-Baqarah 2:172]
“
” That is, if you are truthful in your worship of Him, do not prostrate to anyone other than Him, because one who worships Allah and worships others is not truthful in his worship. The one who is truthful in his worship is the one who purifies his worship for Allah (Mighty and Majestic). And that is sufficient, if Allah wills, for the rest. Yes.
