The third and final question in the letter from our brother Saleh Sa'd al-Awfi from Madinah al-Munawwarah. He says: What is the interpretation of the saying of Allah : [Surah al-Qasas: 76]? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.
Answer: This verse is in the story of Qarun. His people said to him: [Surah al-Qasas: 76]. The meaning of this is: the joy that is accompanied by arrogance, tyranny over people, aggression, and ingratitude. This is what is prohibited: the joy of ingratitude and arrogance.
As for the joy in the favor of Allah, His mercy, His blessings, and His kindness, this is prescribed, as Allah said: [Surah Yunus: 58]. So the believer rejoices that Allah guided him to Islam, that Allah helped him to pray in congregation, that Allah helped him to be dutiful to his parents and maintain ties with his relatives, and that Allah helped him to do good. This is prescribed; he should rejoice in it and be pleased with it. In fact, it is obligatory for him to rejoice in it, to be delighted by it, and to praise Allah for it.
As for the blameworthy joy, it is the joy that is accompanied by arrogance, pride, ingratitude, and looking down on people. This is the blameworthy one. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you.
Indeed, Allah does not like the exultant.
