Love and hatred are based on a person's actions, not on his person

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is love and hatred directed at the person himself, or at his actions?

Answer:
Love and hatred are for his actions; if he is a believer, you love him for his faith, and if he is a disbeliever, you hate him for his disbelief, not for his lineage, nor for being white or black, no. You love him for his faith and his mindfulness of Allah, even if he is the ugliest of people in appearance, and you hate him for his disbelief and his misguidance, even if he is the best of people in appearance, and even if he is the wealthiest of them.
