The Ruling on Slaughter, Giving It in Charity, and Bestowing the Reward upon the Dead

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A man visited the graves of his relatives, and after the visit, he slaughtered an animal for Allah as charity, saying, “The reward is for these deceased people.” What is the ruling on what he did?

Answer:
There is nothing wrong with it, if he gives charity on their behalf with a slaughtered animal, whether before the visit or after the visit. Visiting the graves is a recommended practice (sunnah), as is making du'a for them by mentioning the Hereafter and death. If he slaughters an animal and gives it in charity on behalf of his deceased Muslim relatives, or gives money, clothes, bedding, or something else, it reaches the deceased and benefits them.
