The ruling on selling anything whose use is forbidden

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is it the case that anything whose use is forbidden in any way is forbidden to sell and to earn money from? For example, tobacco is forbidden; so if a person sells tobacco without smoking it himself, is his earnings forbidden?

Answer:
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Indeed, when Allah forbids a thing, He forbids its priceإن الله إذا حرم شيئًا؛ حرم ثمنه
Sahih Ibn Hibban 26:35
So if tobacco is forbidden to you, its price is forbidden to you, and trading in it is forbidden; because you are assisting in sin and transgression, you are helping them in evil, you are luring them to it, and you are delivering it to them. Whoever assists in the commission of a forbidden act shares in the sin, whether by selling it, by giving it as a gift, or otherwise. So do not give tobacco as a gift, nor sell it, nor do anything else with it, except for a thing whose eating is forbidden but from which benefit may be derived; there is no harm in that, such as donkeys and mules, from which benefit is derived; they are sold, but they are not eaten; they are sold only for work, for riding them, and for working with them.
As for what Allah has forbidden to eat and to derive benefit from, its price is forbidden, such as tobacco, intoxicants, and pigs, and the like of that which Allah has forbidden to eat and forbidden to derive benefit from.
