If you take out compulsory insurance on a car, is it permissible for me to take the money they give me if I have an accident?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.

The questioner : How are you?The Shaykh ؟

The Shaykh : Welcome, praise be to Allah.

The questioner : No problem, just a question.

The Shaykh: Go ahead.

The questioner : One of them asked me, saying, "I am at the traffic department; the insurance is compulsory, meaning the car will not be licensed unless I insure it. So if I have an accident, is it permissible for me to take from the insurance?"

The Shaykh : You take the amount you paid.

The questioner : I mean, if it exceeds the cost of the accident?

The Shaykh : Yes, it is not permissible.

The questioner : Okay, Shaykh, they originally gave it to me; what should I do with the money?

The Shaykh : That is not a problem.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : Do you think there is a problem if I did not take it?

The questioner: No.

The Shaykh : And if you took it and disposed of it in a way that does not return to you as a specific benefit.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : There is no problem with that either.

The questioner : Ah, may Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : And may He reward you.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : Welcome, and may peace, Allah’s mercy, and His blessings be upon you.
