The Shaykh : Peace and Allah's mercy be upon you.
The questioner : The Shaykh Al-Albani.
The Shaykh: Yes.
The questioner : How are you, Shaykh?
The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, I am well.
The questioner: May Allah bless you, O Shaykh.
The Shaykh : May Allah preserve you.
The questioner : We had requested a time from you for some questions, so you designated for us after the 'Isha' prayer, if Allah wills.
The Shaykh: Yes.
The questioner : If this appointment is for a time to answer some questions, may Allah reward you with good.
The Shaykh: Go ahead.
The questioner : We asked you about the Tabligh group before this occasion, which was last night, and you pointed out the innovations in the Tabligh group, may Allah reward you with good. But we would like you to clarify for us some of their innovations, and also to explain to us what our stance should be toward the Tabligh group?
The Shaykh : What should I clarify for you?
The questioner : That you clarify for us the innovations of the Tabligh group, and also our stance toward the Tabligh group: do we mix with them, or what do we do with them? May Allah reward you with good.
The Shaykh : As for your stance toward the Tabligh group, it is the same as your stance toward all Muslims, which is within the limits of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):. They said: For whom, O Messenger of Allah? He said: Sahih Muslim 55a. So the Tabligh group and all the groups existing today in the Islamic land have this right over us, the right of advice. It is not permissible to hate them, nor is it permissible to boycott them. Rather, we maintain contact with them as long as they maintain contact with us, and we have presented to them advice from the Book of Allah and from the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), as long as they do not oppose us. If they oppose us, then for every incident there is a new ruling. As for what their innovations are, I had mentioned to you that their regulated outings of three days and forty days, and I do not know the other details, and that they cite as evidence for them what does not indicate them from the Book and the Sunnah. They do not care about the words of those who advise them from among the scholars of knowledge, and there is no benefit in enumerating their innovations. The important thing is that they have not adopted the conduct of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) as a practical and scientific methodology for themselves, contrary to the short phrases they begin with when one of them stands after the obligatory prayer and alerts the seated people that there will be a lesson delivered by one of them. He says a slogan for them, or a known phrase for them, which they say is the Sunnah of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). You are more aware of their phrases than I am.
The questioner : O Shaykh, our success and our achievement.
The Shaykh : Yes, yes, I know. The important thing is that I do not memorize this slogan. The important thing is that their saying "our success and our achievement" is beautiful in appearance, but not beautiful in reality, because they have adopted as a ritual to begin their speech with this phrase, and they have turned away from the guidance of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) in opening their sermons with what we are accustomed to, the Message of Teaching People the Sermon of Need, which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) taught his Companions. Why? They do not open their sermons with what the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) used to open his sermons with. If they are sincere in their saying that our success and our achievement is by following the Sunnah of our Prophet, to the end of their saying, then this word they say is only a matter of advertising, according to the Syrian Arab proverb: "Read and you will be happy, try and you will be sad." Do you understand this statement?
The questioner : Yes, Shaykh.
