Question:
What is better for a student of knowledge: to start with one text and, once he finishes it, start another, or to combine more than one text at the same time?

Answer:
Answer: This depends on the teacher from whom you receive knowledge. He is the one who chooses the books for you. You should not limit yourself to just one book, because knowledge is interconnected, with each part connected to the others. You need knowledge of grammar, you need knowledge of Islamic jurisprudence, you need knowledge of hadith, and you need knowledge of Qur'anic exegesis. Therefore, you must study in every discipline and not limit yourself to one, saying, "I am done with this and will return to it later." You need grammar, so take a book of grammar with you. You need exegesis, so take a book of exegesis. You need hadith and its commentary, so take a text like *Bulugh al-Maram*, for example. You should combine them, but this depends on the teacher. If you do not find a teacher, there is no benefit in the books.
