Renting out the imam's residence

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
I am the imam of a mosque and I was given a house. Is it permissible for me to rent out this house that was endowed for me?

Answer:
Answer: Yes, whether you live in it or rent it out, because the benefit of the house belongs to you. If you do not need to live in it, there is no harm in renting it out, because its benefit is yours; you may use the benefit yourself or through your representative, who is the tenant. However, it should be noted on this occasion that some imams invest in the mosques, not out of a desire to be imams, and they either do not perform the imamate or they fall short in it. Rather, they want to invest by taking the allocated salary and utilizing the residence by renting it out or living in it. They do not perform the imamate well, they are absent and appoint those who are not qualified to act on their behalf, and their absences and delays are frequent. This is forbidden for them.
