"Whoever vows to obey Allah, let him obey Him"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
May Allah reward you. This questioner says: I made a vow that a need of mine would be fulfilled, and the vow was to fast forty days. I was unable to fast without any excuse. Is there an alternative to fasting for me, or not? Please give us a ruling, may Allah reward you.

Answer:
How can he say he was unable to fast without any excuse? That means he has no excuse! So he is able to fast, and it is obligatory for him to do so. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever vows to obey Allah, let him obey Him. This is obedience, and he must fulfill it. If it happens that he is unable to do it at a certain time, he postpones it to another time when he is able to do it. Yes.
