Waking the children for prayer.
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
If the adult son does not get up for the congregational prayer, or if he is woken up because he trusts that his father and mother will wake him, so he sleeps deeply and does not care, is it permissible for his family to leave him without waking him as a form of discipline so that he will get up on his own? And does the father sin if he leaves his son in this state, even though his intention is to reform him?
Answer:
Answer: This is not the intention of reform; the intention of reform is to raise his son in obedience and goodness and in maintaining the prayer, and to wake him for prayer and strive for that, and not to go to the mosque unless he is with him or he trusts that he will follow him, and not to leave him sleeping, for he is responsible for him. (O you who believe! Protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is men and stones). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Order your children to pray when they are seven years old, and beat them for it when they are ten, and separate them in their beds." So if a seven-year-old is ordered to pray, how much more so the adult and the man? It is incumbent upon the head of the household not to leave men in his house who abandon the prayer with the congregation.
