The questioner : I sometimes wake up near the iqamah for the Fajr prayer, and if I try to wake the children, we all miss the prayer, so I go to the mosque first, and after the prayer I return and wake the children. Is my action correct?
The Shaykh : As for if the children are girls, prayer is not obligatory upon them, so there is no harm, and the time is ample. But if they are boys, it is obligatory for him to advance and wake up before the adhan for Fajr and pray whatever Allah wills for him to pray. And when the adhan for Fajr is called, he should hasten to wake them. In this case, he is safe from sin and from negligence, because the man is responsible for his household, for Allah the Exalted said:[At-Tahrim 66:6] Thus He made the protection from the Fire for ourselves and for our households. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes.
The questioner : May Allah reward you and bless you.
