Does the soul transfer from one person to another?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner: I read in one of the books that the soul transfers from one person to another. Is this statement correct?

Answer:
The Shaykh: This is a false statement. This is the talk of the Transmigrationists, who are a wicked, disbelieving sect. Souls do not transfer from one person to another. Every person has his own soul, but it is taken away during sleep and then returns to him. It is taken away at the time of death and does not return to him except at the Resurrection. Every soul returns to its own body. This is the matter regarding the soul. It is among the signs of Allah, and it is among the miracles that no one knows except Allah (Mighty and Majestic). That is to say, the reality of the soul is known to no one except Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). Every human being has his own soul, and it does not transfer to anyone else.
