What is the ruling on tawakkul (reliance upon Allah) without taking the means

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is the ruling on abandoning the means in this world, O honorable Shaykh, and what is the ruling on relying upon them?

Answer:
Answer: No, neither of the two is permissible. Abandoning the means is not permissible, because Allah commanded taking the means, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to take the means. However, one must have tawakkul (reliance upon Allah) alongside taking the means. One should not rely upon the means. Therefore, the Salaf (the earliest generations) said that relying upon a means is shirk (associating partners with Allah), and abandoning the means is a defect in the creed. One combines the two: performing the permissible means while having tawakkul (reliance upon Allah), (Glorified and Exalted is He).
