Explaining that a sick person is recorded the reward of his voluntary acts in a state of health

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q543: The questioner says: I am consistent in fasting the days of voluntary fasting, but I was afflicted with a chronic illness, so I left off the voluntary fasting because of the illness. Will I be rewarded for my intention even though I did not fast these days?
A543: If you intended to fast them, and you would have fasted them were it not for the excuse, then you have what you intended. This is like one whose habit is to stand in night prayer, but then he travels or falls ill; the reward of the one who stands in prayer is recorded for him in view of his excuse. So the criterion is intentions.
