Consistency in Voluntary Fasting

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The sixth question of Fatwa No. ( 7306 )
Q6: A person fasts six days of Shawwal, but in one of the years he is prevented from fasting them by illness, an obstacle, or laziness. Does he commit a sin because we
hear that whoever fasts them in one year must not leave them off.

A6: Fasting six days of Shawwal after the day of the festival is a recommended practice (sunnah), and it is not obligatory for one who has fasted them once or more to continue fasting them, nor does he commit a sin by leaving off their fasting. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
