Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q556: The questioner asks: What is the supplication narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) during the pre-dawn meal and when breaking the fast?
A556: It is narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that when he broke his fast, he would say:
Thirst has gone, the arteries are moist, and the reward is sure, if Allah wills.ذهب الظمأ وابتلت العروق، وثبت الأجر إن شاء الله
Sunan Abi Dawud 2357Hasan (Al-Albani)
. It is also narrated from some of the Companions that when they broke their fast, they would say:
O Allah, for You I fasted, and with Your provision I broke my fast, so forgive me, for You are the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Mercifulاللهم لك صمت، وعلى رزقك أفطرت، فاغفر لي إنك أنت الغفور الرحيم
. As for the pre-dawn meal, no specific supplication has been narrated to be said at that time. To my knowledge, no specific supplication has been narrated to be said then, and Allah knows best.
