Some people, after the obligatory prayer, make supplication and at the end of the supplication say:

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Some people, after the obligatory prayer, make supplication, and at the end of the supplication say: "The al-Fatihah to the spirit of our master, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)," and they wipe their faces and recite al-Fatihah, and likewise they recite al-Fatihah for their deceased and the deceased of the Muslims. What is the guidance of your eminence?

The Shaykh : Our guidance to these people is to adhere to the Sunnah, and the Sunnah after the obligatory prayer is tasbih, takbir, and tahlil, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) used to do and as he commanded.
As for making supplication in a group and then reciting al-Fatihah, this is a bid'ah (religious innovation). This is the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and the way of his Companions, and there is absolutely nothing of that in it. They are more knowledgeable than us about the Shari'ah of Allah, they are deeper in faith than us, and they are stronger in their love for Allah and His Messenger than us. They are our role model, as the Mighty and Majestic said:
And the first forerunners [in the faith] among the Muhajireen and the Ansar and those who followed them with good conduct - Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him, and He has prepared for them gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. That is the great attainment. والسابقون الأولون من المهاجرين والأنصار والذين اتبعوهم بإحسان رضي الله عنهم ورضوا عنه وأعد لهم جنات تجري تحتها الأنهار خالدين فيها أبدا ذلك الفوز العظيم
[At-Tawbah 9:100]
.
So we must return to the practice of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) in the time of their Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and after him, for they are the best of generations and the best of the Ummah. It is not permissible for us to innovate in the religion of Allah the Exalted what is not part of it. Rather, innovations do not increase us in anything from Allah except distance, and I seek refuge in Allah. This is based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family):
Every innovation is misguidance. كل بدعة ضلالة
, and what is there after the truth except misguidance?
