The Ruling on Reciting al-Fatihah for Allah and for the Soul of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is the ruling on one who recites al-Fatihah for Allah, and then for the soul of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?

Answer:
There is no basis for this. This Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has a share of reward like ours (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Companions did not do this, and they are the best of people. So do not recite al-Fatihah for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) or for anyone else. Rather, send prayers upon him frequently (peace and blessings be upon him). Send prayers upon him frequently, and strive to follow his Sunnah, to honor his commands and prohibitions, and to hasten to what is prescribed, as Allah the Exalted said:
Say, [O Muhammad], "If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sinsقُلْ إِن كُنتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللّهُ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ
[Al-Imran: 31].
So what is prescribed is to do what has been prescribed for you: the prayers, the zakahs, fasting, Hajj, enjoining good and forbidding evil, jihad in the path of Allah, dutifulness to parents, maintaining family ties, increasing the remembrance of Allah, and sending prayers and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). This is what is prescribed. As for reciting al-Fatihah, or Yasin, or al-A'raf, or such, that is not prescribed.
