Explaining the Virtue of Voluntary Charity

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q209: The questioner, E. D., from Harimlayah Province, asks: Tell us about the virtue of charity, and its effect in bringing good to the Muslim and warding off evil from him?
A209: Charity holds great virtue and abundant reward. Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said:
Who is it that would loan Allah a goodly loan so He may multiply it for him many times over?
[Al-Baqarah 2:245]
. And the Exalted said:
And whatever you spend of expenditures or make of vows - indeed, Allah knows of itوَمَا أَنْفَقْتُمْ مِنْ نَفَقَةٍ أَوْ نَذَرْتُمْ مِنْ نَذْرٍ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ يَعْلَمُهُ
[Al-Baqarah 2:270]
. This indicates that nothing is hidden from Allah regarding the deeds of the doers of good and the givers of charity, and that He rewards them. It also indicates that He knows those who make vows of righteousness if they fulfill them, and He rewards them for that. And Allah the Exalted said:
The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.
[Al-Baqarah 2:261]
.
Allah, Mighty and Majestic, encouraged giving charity with good wealth. As for bad wealth, charity from it is not accepted, nor is haram earnings
Indeed, Allah is Good and accepts only that which is good.
. Good wealth is that which is halal, or it is from what is good. Allah, Mighty and Majestic, called this a loan; because the lender gives money to one who benefits from it and returns its equivalent, and Allah returns to you what you loaned to Him in many multiples, multiplied multiples. Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, guaranteed this, and also promised replacement. So the Exalted said:
But whatever thing you spend [in His cause] - He will compensate it; and He is the best of providers."
[Saba 34:39]
. Thus, Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, replaces for the spender with something better than what he spent, in both this world and the Hereafter. And wealth, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Wealth does not decrease from charity.
, and charity only increases it, indeed it increases it, in the sense that it grows it and plants blessing in it. Even if it decreases the wealth, it increases it in blessing, good, and growth, and Allah replaces with something better than what was spent
But whatever thing you spend [in His cause] - He will compensate it; and He is the best of providers."
[Saba 34:39]
