Explaining the Fruits of Spending and Charity in the Path of Allah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q213: The questioner says: M. A. from Al-Far'ah Governorate: What are the fruits of spending and charity in the path of Allah?
Vol. 213: As Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, mentioned:
The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He willsمَثَلُ الَّذِينَ يُنْفِقُونَ أَمْوَالَهُمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ كَمَثَلِ حَبَّةٍ أَنْبَتَتْ سَبْعَ سَنَابِلَ فِي كُلِّ سُنْبُلَةٍ مِائَةُ حَبَّةٍ وَاللَّهُ يُضَاعِفُ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ
[Al-Baqarah 2:261]
. It is multiplied more than seven hundred times, and more than
seven hundred times, multiplied many times over, Glorified and Exalted is He; none knows it but He. However, a condition of this is that one does not show off with his charity. Allah the Exalted said:
O you who have believed, do not invalidate your charities with reminders or injuryيَاأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لاَ تُبْطِلُوا صَدَقَاتِكُمْ بِالْمَنِّ وَالْأَذَى
[Al-Baqarah 2:264]
. So showing off with charity invalidates it by the explicit text of the noble verse. And He said:
and then do not follow up what they have spent with reminders [of it] or [other] injuryثُمَّ لاَ يُتْبِعُونَ مَا أَنْفَقُوا مَنًّا وَلاَ أَذًى
[Al-Baqarah 2:262]
. Likewise, one should not harm the recipient of the charity, nor consider that he has a favor over him, nor be insistent upon him. The third condition: is that the money given in charity be from lawful earnings, and this is very important and fundamental, for Allah is Pure and accepts nothing but that which is pure. The fourth condition: is that the money given in charity be something that is beneficial, not something defective that is of no benefit, or whose benefit is little. Allah the Exalted said:
And do not aim toward the defective therefrom, spendingوَلاَ تَيَمَّمُوا الْخَبِيثَ مِنْهُ تُنْفِقُونَ
[Al-Baqarah 2:267]
. And "bad" here means the defective of wealth.
