The Recommendation of Placing a Barrier in Front of the One Praying
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q238: The questioner says: If a man passes by while I am praying, does that invalidate my prayer? Do I have to repeat my prayer? What is the ruling on placing a barrier in front of the one praying?
A238: Placing a barrier is recommended, because it prevents people from passing by. Passing in front of the one praying, between him and his barrier, or close to him, if there is no barrier, is strictly forbidden; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih Muslim 507a So there is a great sin on the one who passes by, and it is forbidden for him to pass between the one praying and his barrier, or close to him; because of this hadith. It is obligatory for the one praying to prevent the one passing in front of him; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih Muslim 506a So it is forbidden for the one passing by to pass, and it is forbidden for the one praying to allow him to do so, if he is able to prevent him.

If anyone who passes in front of a man who is praying knew the responsibility he incurs, he would stand still forty (years) rather than to pass in front of him
لو يعلم المار بين يدي المصلي ماذا عليه، لكان أن يقف أربعين خيرًا له من أن يمر بين يديهWhen any one of you prays, he should not allow anyone to pass before him, and if he refuses, he should be then forcibly resisted, for there is a devil with him.
إذا كان أحدكم يصلي، فلا يدع أحدًا يمر بين يديه، فإن أبى فليقاتله، فإنه معه القرين
