The ruling on sending blessings upon the angels during the tashahhud in prayer
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q217: The questioner asks: Is it permissible to send blessings upon the angels because of their virtue and high status? And if it is permissible, is it permissible to include the sending of blessings upon them with the sending of blessings upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the tashahhud of the prayer, or not?
A217: Sending blessings upon the angels is prescribed, such as saying: “May Allah’s blessings and peace be upon them,” or saying: “May peace be upon them,” because they are honored servants, and they are a creation of Allah’s creation, whom Allah the Exalted has favored over others, as He the Exalted said regarding them:[Al-Anbya 21:26] , and as He the Exalted said: [Al-Infitar 82:10-11] , and He the Exalted said: ['Abasa 80:15-16] , and so on. They have their status,
and they have their virtue and honor, and it is prescribed to send blessings and peace upon them, so there is no impediment to that; rather, this is prescribed. As for attaching the sending of blessings upon them to the sending of blessings upon the Prophet in the tashahhud, that is not done; because the tashahhud is restricted to what has been transmitted. However, in our saying: “Peace be upon us and upon Allah’s righteous servants,” this includes every righteous servant in the heavens or on the earth, and the angels are included in it.
