He used to drink until the call to prayer was made

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 20943 )
Q: I used to not abstain from drinking for fasting in the month of Ramadan until after hearing the iqamah for the Fajr prayer , for I used to drink water, and that was after reaching the age of obligation for fasting, and it was out of ignorance on my part, and there was no one
to guide me, and I know, and Allah knows best what I am saying, that I do not know the number of days on which I did not abstain from drinking except upon hearing the iqamah, but I know the number of years, and it is nine months, and I have fasted from them until now approximately one and a half months.

A: It is obligatory for you to make up the months in which you did not abstain from eating except upon hearing the iqamah; because you ate and drank during the day, and it was obligatory for you to ask and verify, but you did not do so, and this is negligence on your part, and Allah the Exalted says:
And eat and drink until the white thread of dawn becomes distinct to you from the black thread [of night]. Then complete the fast until the sunset.
[Al-Baqarah 2:187]
, and it is also obligatory for you, along with making up the fasts, an expiation for delaying the making up until another Ramadan, which is feeding a poor person for each day, the amount of which is half a sa' of the staple food of the country, wheat or rice or otherwise, which equals one and a half kilograms by weight. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
