The emission of semen invalidates fasting

Fatwa number ( 15240 )
Q: I was in Ramadan and forgot that I was fasting. I sat with a woman, and my hair was coarse, so I washed my head. After that, I ejaculated. What should I do?
A: If the emission of semen from you occurred during the day in Ramadan without sexual intercourse, it is obligatory for you to repent and seek forgiveness, and to make up that day; because the emission of semen invalidates fasting, and there is no expiation upon you. If another Ramadan has passed since the one in which you broke your fast, then you must make up the fast and pay the expiation for delaying the make-up, which is: feeding a poor person the amount of half a sa' of wheat, dates, rice, or the like of the country's staple food, which is approximately one and a half kilograms. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
