Ruling on women following the imam of a nearby mosque from their homes

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q376: The questioner, M. A. M. from Dar al-Tawhid School in Kano, Nigeria, asks: What is the ruling on women praying in their homes, performing the prayer by following the imam of a nearby mosque via the loudspeaker? Is it valid, or must it be repeated?
A376: We do not consider the prayer of a woman in her home with an imam to be valid merely because she hears the voice from the loudspeaker; because the sound of the loudspeaker may extend a long distance from the mosque, and there are distances and streets between her and the mosque. In this case, it is not valid for the woman to follow the imam and pray while she is outside the mosque. If she wishes to follow the imam and pray with him, she must go to the mosque; otherwise, she should pray by herself in her home. And Allah the Exalted knows best.
